Bungalow explores the secrets we keep, the duty of care and the burden of shame within a modern Anglo-Indian family
However, little does Agatha know that Bungalow, groaning under the weight of the secrets it has witnessed, has a mind of its own.BUNGALOW is the first full-length play from emerging Anglo-Indian writer Ruth D’Silva, and was shortlisted in 2023 for the RSC’s 37 Plays Folio. Exploring the duty of care and the burden of shame in a contemporary Anglo-Indian family, BUNGALOW is a vital new work about one woman’s attempt to take control of her own story.
This production will be directed by Beth Kapila, who is currently a Regional Associate at Tamasha and started developing BUNGALOW in her previous role as Artistic Associate at Tara Theatre. Other credits include OUR STREETS at Tara Theatre and WHEN THE SEA SWALLOWS US WHOLE at VAULT Festival. BUNGALOW is presented by Jessie Anand Productions, whose recent work includes THIS MIGHT NOT BE IT (Bush Theatre) and ORLANDO (59E59, New York).
