Set in the heart of The New Forest at Minstead in Hampshire this delightful, informal garden was established in 1922 and is renowned for its all year round beauty.

This delightful, informal garden was established in 1922 and is renowned for its all year round beauty. There is ample seating throughout from which to enjoy the lake, heather garden and a host of Summer and Winter flowering shrubs and trees of botanical interest at all seasons.

Visit 'Cole Cottage', the restored forest cottage and garden which is thought to date back to 1560.

The Forest Cottage by the Gardens entrance is believed to have been built in 1560 with timbers reputed to have come from the Tudor boatyards at Lymington: the shape and style indicate their having been cut for shipbuilding. During renovation work Mormon newsprint, dated 1860 sent from Salt Lake City, was found to have been used as a lining paper on the ceilings.

The newly restored thatched Craft Gallery should not to be missed. A good choice of quality crafts is displayed in the gallery and you can relax with a coffee and cake on the New Terrace or in the comfortable sofas in the Loft.

Completely re-developed for 2003, the play area has something for everyone. Come and see the new African style round houses, the tree house and viewing platform, the swings and the picnic area.

Entrance is free to gallery, coffee shop, plant sales
