Availability: A selected weekend date four times a year. Weather: Duration: Expect to be at the venue for up to two hours, including your 90 minute lesson. Numbers On Day: Takes place in a group of a maximum of 20 fencing participants with up to three fully qualified fencing coaches. Spectators: The nature of this experience makes it available to paying participants only. Dress Code: Wear trainers and loose fitting comfortable clothes. All specialist clothing required will be supplied for you on the day. Please bring a bottle of water. Guidelines: From Clapham Junction rail station, turn right onto Grant Road for 150 yards. Turn right onto Falcon Road and walk for 250 yards until you come to Lavender Hill. Turn left and you will see the venue opposite, with the entrance on the corner. There are numerous parking facilities on the street and surrounding area. Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Other Info: All instructors are qualified and registered with the BFA (British Fencing Association).

You'll start with a full safety briefing and warm up with a top international coach who will introduce you to the basics, including essential footwork. Get to grips with the equipment including foil and mask and go through a few techniques, taught to help and equip you to beat your opponent. You'll learn all the basics and some of the terminology that goes with them, such as the lunge, parry, riposte and feint. Then get into pairs for duelling and fighting games before you put all you have learned into practise with a duel against a rival team. End the day with a display of the three different swords used in fencing. Enjoy this unusual and fulfilling way to keep fit.
