Ross-shire, or the County of Ross was a Scottish County until it was abolished in 1975. The county was bounded by Sutherland, Cromartyshire, Inverness-shire and Nairhshire. It also included Ross and Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. The region was known for its incredible mountain scenery, most especially the Torridon Hills which are possibly the most dramatic mountain peaks in all of the UK.In 1975 the county became part of the Highland Region and the Western Isles.
