Kincardineshire, or the County of Kincardine was a Scottish local government county. Located on the north east coast of Scotland it was bounded by Angus to the south and Aberdeenshire to the north and west.Kincardineshire county was abolished in 1975 and swallowed up by the Grampian region. After that, when the Grampian region was carved up into unitary council areas in 1996 and Kincardineshire district became part of the Aberdeenshire council area. The name of Kincardineshire is retained purely for a lieutenancy area.
