Telling the story of Albert Spring, a humble country boy from Winwick who was certainly no ordinary man in a newly published book
Phil and Dan Spring are promoting the newly published book about a country boy and his family from the village of WinwickHaving lost his father in World War I he then went on to fight with the very best in World War II with the Commandos, the SAS and the Parachute Regiment
He saw action in Egypt, the Lebanon, Palestine, Libya and the Sahara Desert, Italy and then at the ill fated Bridge Too Far at ArnhemHe lost so many of his comrades and friends
Returning home to his beloved family and countryside in 1946 he settled down to raise his family and converting from that Poacher to Gamekeeper of some renown on the Hamerton EstateAlbert was at home in his beloved countryside with a dog and his friends
In 1991 he returned to Arnhem for the first time since 1944 when it came to light he was a hero and had been involved in acts of outstanding bravery, heroism and treachery
Then in 2002 sadly he died but his funeral ranked alongside of that of a member of the Royal Family or a past Prime Minister
This is a story of humble country boy from Winwick
