Bon Iver is an American indie folk band that was started in 2007 by Justin Vernon.
The name is an adaptation of the French term "bon hiver" meaning good winter. The debut album, "For Emma Forever Ago" was written by Justin Vernon while he stayed in a cabin for three months on his own. Since then, Bon Iver has become a full band playing dynamic, thought provoking music that has brought them to the stages of festivals like the Austin City Limits Music Festival and Coachella, among others.
