Wimbledon Mosque to open doors to general public for Exhibition Islam 2017 NEWS
Wimbledon Mosque have confirmed their 2nd Exhibition Islam event (07 – 08 October 2017) and will once again be opening their doors to neighbours and the wider community.
Visitors will have a chance to explore museum style zones across two floors consisting of informative posters, clay models, religious scriptures and various artefacts.
Following their first successful Exhibition Islam event in 2015, which welcomed hundreds of visitors, Wimbledon Mosque will be extending this years format by including 4 new guest speaker sessions. The topics will vary including the Story of Mary, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Islamic Sharia Law and the opportunity to listen to the Quran recited by children from Baseera; a non-profit organisation dedicated to educating and empowering Muslims with disabilities.
Wimbledon Mosque trustee Talat Malik comments: After the horrific events in Manchester and London, we thought its only right that the wider community has the opportunity to meet their Muslim neighbours and learn about the true teachings of Islam.
One member of the community mentions I live in Wimbledon and often drive past the Mosque on Durnsford Road. In light of the recent attack in Finsbury Park and the unfair and divisive representations of the Muslim community in the media, I would really appreciate the opportunity to come and visit the Mosque to celebrate your faith.
This years event will also have an exclusive exhibition for school visits and provide a much greater educational experience for students to learn about Islam. Schools from the London boroughs of Merton and Wandsworth have quickly booked the available registration slots with over 400 students and teachers already confirmed.
The Exhibition Islam 2017 event is free and open to all members of the public.
