The Wombles recycled For Glastonbury!

The 1970's Children Characters The Wombles are in the Glastonbury Festival Line-up!

Remember Remember Remember, The Wombles? The 1970's litter pickers from Wimbledon Common have been booked unknowingly for Glastonbury 2011.

Michael Eavis, Glastonbury boss is fuming that the kids TV characters have been booked, and has confirmed 'it's a bit of a mistake'.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Eavis said, ' I've got about 25 stages and managers and bookers for each of the stages. I can't control every single one of them, but I do get cross about that kind of thing.'

Producer and song writer Mike Batt appeared on Radio Five Live yesterday and during the interview said, The Wombles are shown on the printed Glastonbury 2011 tickets, and bosses would look very silly now if they were dropped. Mike Batt also wrote on twitter 'It's like being invited to a dinner party and then hearing your host on the radio saying he wishes he had't invited you!'.

The Wombles will be appearing at the festival alongside U2, Beyonce, Pendulum and QOTSA.

Every year at Glastonbury they have a novelty act, which have included Shakin Stevens, Rolf Harris and Chas 'n Dave.

The Editor of NME.com commented on The Wombles appearing by saying, ' It's a bit of fun and its' exactly the reason so many people have this fondness of Glastonbury'. He also said 'It's really what's unique to Glastonbury - that sense of not taking things too seriously'.

A clearly upset Mike Batt said ' I'm a bit surprised by the comment as the band had been practising really hard for the festival.'

The Wombles may be seen picking up litter after their stage performance or even just 'Dreaming In The Sun'.
