Embracing technology The Queen ends her Diamond Jubilee year by recording her Christmas Day Speech in 3D for the first time ever. The speech that will be broadcast on Christmas Day at 3pm will also be available to viewers in standard and high definition during the speech.
Buckingham Palace have announced The Queen has 'embraced' new technology and has recorded her traditional Christmas message to the nation in 3D for the first time. A far cry fromher earlier broadcasts in black and white.
The nation will be able to scrutinise The Queen as never before when the Christmas speech goes Hi-tech on Christmas Day during her Diamond Jubilee year.
The programme has already been recorded, but the theme of message is unknown, although it is likely to feature the London 2012 Olympic Games and HRH's Diamond Jubilee.
Produced by Sky News, The Queen has already watched the recording and is said to have enjoyed the experience.
A spokeswoman from The Palace said Her Majesty thought the broadcast was:#quote# Absolutely lovely.#/quote#
The Palace spokeswoman said: 'We wanted to do something a bit different and special in this Jubilee year, so doing it for the first time in 3D seemed a good thing, technology wise, to do.'
She added: 'The Queen absolutely agreed straight away there was no need for convincing at all, she was absolutely ready to embrace something new in this year.'
The Queen's Christmas Day speech is one of the only opportunities for The Queen to voice her own opinions without need to turn to the government for advice.
