Combining rebellion, beauty, scientific precision and grandeur, the Pre-Raphaelites are considered to be Britain's first modern art movement. This exquisite exhibition brings together over 150 of their works, (the scale of which has not been seen in one collection since the 1980's), in various media's such as painting, sculpture, photography and the applied arts.
Led by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB) rebelled against the art establishment of the mid-nineteenth century, taking inspiration from early Renaissance painting with breathtaking results. As quoted by art critic Jonathan Jones from the Guardian, it is...'by far the best exhibition of Pre-Raphaelite art I have seen'.
To discover this stunning collection, head to the Tate Britain gallery up to 13th January 2013. Tickets are £14 with concessions available.
