An angry yob punched a police horse in the face during riots after a Sunderland, Newcastle football match. The man who has yet to be named was wrestled to the floor by police officers. Police confirm the horse is now safe and well.
A police horse that was punched in the face following the Newcastle, Sunderland riots on Saturday is back recuperating in his paddock police have confirmed.
The video posted on Youtube last night which captures a man punching the police horse, has been seen by hundreds of shocked viewers, and is likely to go viral it has also prompted uproar on Twitter.
The police horse called Bud, who was attacked by a Newcastle supporter, was hit so hard it caused the horse to rear up and almost lost its rider.
The so-called Newcastle football fans lost 3-0 to their rival team Sunderland and rioted in their own city centre.
29 arrests were made during the rioting and 28 people have now been released from custody.
West Yorkshire Police Horses have said that all the horses are 'fit and well, resting and relaxed'.

Rioters threw glass bottles, firecrackers, bricks and rocks at the police.
A Police Officer is reported to have said that these riots were the worst seen in Newcastle City Centre in 'decades'.
Police have today thanked the public for their concern.
