Mysterious black ring over Leamington explained NEWS
A mysterious black ring that hovered over the skies in Leamington Spa has caused a sensation on social media, but it has now been explained.
A sixteen year old schoolgirl captured a strange black ring which suddenly appeared in the sky over Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, which then went viral on social media websites.
The odd ring was captured on the girl's smartphone after finishing her game of tennis with her mother, near to Warwick Castle. It floated in the sky for around three minutes before eventually disappearing.
Many took to websites to attempt to explain the phenomena, some accusing the girl of faking the video, with others suggesting that it may be a UFO.
Even the Met Office was puzzled - a spokeswoman from the organisation said that there could be no meteorological reason for the black ring, saying that there was nothing unusual in Leamington Spa that day.
However, a statement released from Warwick Castle put the theories to rest, and said that they were testing 'fire effects' that accompany the daily firing of their Trebuchet Fireball - a giant catapult.
A spokesman from the historic castle said, "We've seen a number of different effects, including the vortex images that have been reported. As yet we don't know what causes the phenomenon but it's certainly a spooky spectacle."
Carry on.
