Miranda Hart tipped for comedy awards

Comedian Miranda Hart leads the British Comedy Awards nominations, nominated for four awards this year including the People's choice for the king or queen of comedy award once more.

Miranda Hart could be set to repeat her triumph of last year, when she picked up three awards including queen of comedy.

She has been nominated for the best female television comic award, as well as best TV comedy actress.

Her hit BBC One show Miranda is also in favour, nominated for best sitcom, competing against channel 4's Friday Night Dinner and Peep Show and the BBC's Twenty Twelve.

Friday Night Dinner has also received four nominations, including best new comedy programme. Tamsin Greig and Tom Rosenthal, both stars of the show, have been nominated for awards, with Greig up for best TV comedy actress and Rosenthal best comedy breakthrough artist.

Twenty Twelve, a comedy about the Olympics, has received three nominations, including one for star Hugh Bonneville.

Winners will be announced on Friday during a ceremony hosted by Jonathan Ross, broadcast live on Channel 4.
