Lady Gaga's meat dress on display NEWS
Lady Gaga's bizarre meat dress, worn at the MTV movie awards last year, is to be put on show.
When you think of Lady Gaga, you picture bizarre fashion pieces, so it's no surprise that Lady Gaga's controversial meat dress is to be put on display for the public. The singer wore the dress for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010, and the outfit was placed in chemicals and then dried out by taxidermists so it would stand the test of time. The dress, made from layers of Argentinian beef was also stored in a meat locker before being chemically treated.
Designed by Franc Fernandez and Nichola Formichetti, the outfit is set to go on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of an exhibition that will run until February 2012.
According to a spokeswoman at the Hall of Fame, the dehydrated dress began to look like 'dark beef jerky' so was painted afterwards, to look fresh. In it's entirety, the process took a number of months.
Gaga defended the outfit following an outcry caused back in September, claiming it wasn't disrespectful towards vegans and vegetarians, rather than a protest against the army in America and the way they treat homosexual soldiers.
