Julianne Moore cast in Carrie remake NEWS
Actress Julianne Moore is to star in the remake of 1976 horror classic Carrie as Margaret White.
Movie industry website Deadline has reported Moore will play Margaret White, the disturbed mother of the teenage girl with powers.
Chloe Grace Moretz, best known for her roles in 500 Days of Summer, Hugo and Kick-Ass, has been cast as Carrie. Moretz recently told the BBC that the film would be 'a modern-day retelling, not based in the 70s'.
Comparing it to the 2010 film Black Swan starring Natalie Portman, Moretz said the Carrie remake would be 'dark but exciting'.
The 1976 horror was a screen adaptation of a Stephen King novel of the same name.
Director Kimberly Pierce will be taking the helm for the film. Her previous films include Hilary Swank's Boys Don't Cry 1999 film.
'What I'm doing with Kim Pierce is kind of breaking down the book. We're bringing a lot of the book into it and the psychology into it to really get into who she is,' Moretz said.
