A small Edinburgh based homeless charity is starting a new drama group in September. The Vagabond Theatre Company was set up through a collaboration between charity Raised Voices and local director George Williamson.

The aim of the group is to provide a creative outlet for those at the margins of society, be it back stage or centre stage, acting or stage management. It will culminate in December, where the public will be invited to come and watch the final piece in a live performance.

All money raised from the shows will then be donated to local youth homelessness projects.

Local musician Kirstie Heggie said "I've worked with Raised Voices in a mutually supportive relationship for a few years now. The minds behind the project always have their fingers on the pulse of creativity and artistic projects as a way to improve the lives of people who are experiencing homelessness, to encourage and inspire them further along an artistic path will gaining well-deserved support to fund these projects.

Raised voices always put an outstanding fundraising event, audiences moved to tears and laughter always leave feeling they have not only supported a worthy cause but been inspired themselves

The group will be meeting every Thursday from September 1st at Old St Pauls Church on Jeffery Street at 6pm. For more information contact Blair Christie @ Raised Voices bachristie@googlemail.com
