Helena Bonham Carter honoured NEWS
British actress Helena Bonham Carter has been made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by the Queen whose mother was played by Bonham Carter in the Oscar-winning film The King's Speech.
Since rising to fame in costume dramas including A Room with a View in 1985, Bonham Carter has enjoyed a prosperous career including several movies with her long-term partner Tim Burton.
The 45-year-old actress wore a tartan dress as she received her honour. Bonham Carter chose to keep her counsel by declining to speak to reporters.
Playing the future Queen Mother in Tom Hooper's drama The King's Speech, Bonham Carter was awarded a BAFTA for her role.
When she learned she had been acknowledged in the New Year's Honours, Bonham Carter dedicated the honour to her late father 'for facing 25 years of chronic disability with quiet daily heroism'.
'I am delighted to accept such a wonderful honour in his memory,' Bonham Carter added.
