With so much going on, it can be easy to lose sight of historical Easter facts and traditions and several churches and historical homes will events and exhibitions which look at the true meaning of the Easter holiday.

How to make the most of your Double Bank Holiday Weekend
This extra-festive spring means up to eleven days free with Easter, the Royal Wedding and the May Bank Holiday weekend. Make the most of the freedom by celebrating Easter with the family or the Royal Wedding with friends, heading to one of England's famous spring food and drink festivals, getting outside in the fresh air or getting far, far away from it all.
Easter Egg Hunts Galore
Egg-cellent Easter events for the whole family are on England-wide. Head down to Devils Dyke on the south coast for one of the three Easter Egg Hunts (23-25 April), or join in the Egg Rolling competition on Tuesday 25 April, and get your egg down the hill furthest and fastest for a prize. The chocolate-y holiday is the perfect time to visit Birmingham's Cadbury World to discover chocolate's origins and how it's made, or spend the day on a Cadbury Easter trail at Northumberland's Cragside Estate.
Jump down the rabbit hole to Tatton Park's three-day Alice in Wonderland Easter Festival, and follow a trail through the State Rooms to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party in the Gardens, the Queen of Hearts story time at the farm or follow the Cheshire Cat trail. Those who fancy staying in can get creative and make an Easter Bonnet for this year's Lyme Regis Easter Bonnet parade on Sunday 25 April 2011.

More Easter Ideas for the family
For an ideal family getaway in the Capital, the Colonnade Hotel is running a Monkey around London Zoo package over Easter. The two-night package includes four fast track tickets to the zoo, bed and breakfast - plus kids stay free.
Head to one of England's islands for an eleven-day double Bank Holiday escape. The Isle of Wight, for example, has loads of events lined up for Easter and the Bank Holiday. Plus, you never know who you might bump into, considering the speculation that William and Kate might choose it for their honeymoon, following in Queen Victoria's footsteps, who often holidayed here with Prince Albert. For sub-tropical temperatures, white sand, crystal clear azure waters and plenty of accommodation, the Isles of Scilly lay just 25 miles off the Cornish coast,

The Great Outdoors
Another option is to simply get outdoors and enjoy the spring weather. Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest near Hastings has space for cycling, picnic spots and a Go Ape facility for adventure seekers, or detect bats using ultrasound detectors on a Bat Walk at Watermead Country Park in Leicestershire on 29 April or at Kielder Forest on 30 April. For multi-generational family outings, take part in a spring walking festival.
The Haltwhistle festival from April 30 - May 7 explores Northumberland with views across Hadrian's Wall, while the largest ever Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival from 29 April to 2 May includes walks with four levels of difficulty. A ten-day walking festival in Exmoor has trails through the region's Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
