Google celebrates Mr Men books NEWS
Today Google displays 16 doodles of characters from the iconic and much-loved Mr Men books to celebrate author's birthday.
English author and illustrator, Roger Hargreaves, who created the Mr Men books would have been 76 years old today and Google have created Mr Men doodles for their webpage to celebrate his life and work.
Hargreaves first created his Little Men stores in 1971 and the idea first came to life when his son asked him what a tickle looked like. Drawing an orange body and squiggly arms, the first of the Little Men, Mr Tickle, was born.
Hargreaves died in 1988 from a stroke aged ust 53 and his son, Adam Hargreaves took over running the empire. Adam believes that the simplicity behind the characters was the key to their success.
It is reported that over 100m books based on the Mr Men and Little Miss characters have been sold worldwide.
The books have been such a success that there is talk of a big screen adaption. Movie giants Twentieth Century Fox's animation department is said to be working on the project.
Ranging from Little Miss Sunshine to Mr Forgetful, the Google doodles change each time the page is reloaded.
