From Prometheus to Moses NEWS
From Sci-fi to religion, Prometheus director Ridley Scott has revealed a big-screen retelling of the story of Moses is 'going to happen'.
Far from done with the theological themes, British director Ridley Scott told Esquire magazine in a recent interview there could very well be a new Moses film on the horizon with Scott at the helm.
'Seriously, seriously. It's going to happen,' Scott told interviewer Eric Spitznagel of Esquire US. 'I probably shouldn't have let that slip out. I'm not supposed to say anything.'
Scott told Spitznagel of his fascination with the biblical figure who led the Israeliteds out of Egypt and received the Ten Commandments from God in the Old Testament.
'What's interesting to me about Moses isn't the big stuff that everybody knows. It's things like his relationship with Rameses. I honestly wasn't paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary.' Scott said.
Scott's proposed Moses project isn't the only one currently being planned in Hollywood. Earlier this year, Deadline reported Steven Spielberg is to direct a biopic of Moses, portraying him in a 'Braveheart-ish' way, according to a source close to the film project.
Scott has also been eyeing the adaptation of the board game Monopoly, along with the crime drama The Counsellor, scripted by Cormac McCarthy. The Counsellor looks likely to be Scott's next film, with a cast including Michael Fassbender (star of Prometheus), Brad Pitt and Penelope Cruz.
Prometheus hit the cinemas last week with relatively mixed critical reviews. Scott's return to sci-fi after 30 years has always been planned as a two-part project and Prometheus left the ending open for a follow-up.
