Door open for Tevez return NEWS
Reports have suggested that there is a chance of Carlos Tevez returning to the Man City fold should he apologise to manager Roberto Mancini and the other players.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has suggested that he is open to Carlos Tevez playing for the club again, provided the Argentina striker apologises to both him and the City players.
Tevez has not played for Man City since he refused to take to the pitch as a substitute in City's Champions League match at Bayern Munich, a game they eventually lost 2-0.
Despite being found guilty of five counts of breach of contract at a club disciplinary hearing after an internal investigation, Tevez has always maintained that he simply refused to warm up, not take to the pitch. He was initially fined four weeks wages, approximately £1m, although this was later halved after an intervention by the PFA.
Tevez's camp has also suggested that the player is considering an appeal against the club sanction and whether to pursue a private legal action against Mancini for defamation of character.
In the interview Mancini is quoted as saying 'Everything depends upon Carlos. If he apologises to the squad and me then everything will be as before'. However, he acknowledged that if this doesn't happen, City have plans to move on, saying 'If he doesn't, then Tevez has a value that everyone knows and something will happen in January'.
The olive branch offered by Mancini is something of a u-turn on his part given that he was adamant that Tevez would never play for City again whilst he was manager.
City are in Champions League action again tonight when they take on Villareal in Spain.
