80mph Zip Wire attraction to open in Snowdonia

A disused quarry in Snowdonia will be opening the biggest zip wire ride in the Northern Hemisphere, taking thrill-seekers on a 1m ride of their life at 80mph.

A disused quarry in Snowdonia has built the biggest zip wire ride in the Northern Hemisphere, taking thrill-seekers on a ride of their lives at up to 80mph.

Snowdonia's mountains will be home to the largest zip-wire ride in the northern hemisphere when it opens up to the general public on the 16th March.

Penrhyn quarry in Bethesda, which itself was the largest of its kind until the 1950's, has been used for the location of the zip wire attraction, named Zip World, which takes brave souls for an incredible mile-long ride, from 700ft high back down to ground level.

Guests are driven to the summit in an ex-military vehicle where they will be given goggles, helmets and flying suits to zip down in, and those that are a little nervous will be able to practice techniques on a shorter wire, 'Little Zipper'.

An estimated half a million pound has been spent transforming the disused quarry in Bethesda into this thrilling new attraction. On clear days riders will be able to see Snowdonia, Anglesey, a bird's-eye view of the 200-year old quarry, and even the Isle of Man on their descent. Guests will also enjoy a guided adventure experience that will last for 2-3 hours.

More information about this thrilling new ride can be found on their website at Zip World.
