Meet reindeer stars at Blithbury Reindeer Lodge FEATURE
You might be forgiven for thinking that they're just around at Christmas time, but at Blithbury Reindeer Lodge there's a year-long task of looking after the largest herd of reindeer in England. BritEvents' Lucy treated her family to a great day out to enjoy one of their themed days out.

On a visit to Blithbury Reindeer Lodge, you're in for a real treat! Nestled in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside, tucked away amongst thirty acres of lush green pastures, lies the home of England's largest reindeer herd.
Here, visitors have the chance to get up close and personal with these beautiful creatures, some of which are stars in their own right - having appeared on TV and film. Whether it be petting and feeding them, experiencing the magic of Christmas, or a themed family fun day out, there is something here for everyone to enjoy.
Frozen at Blithbury
One such themed event on the 4th October 2015 saw the Lodge transformed into a magical Frozen experience day. Here, children got the chance to meet and greet their favourite characters from the hit blockbuster film, say hello to their favourite characters Anna and Elsa by a roaring log fire, a cuddle with Olaf, and their photograph taken with the 'real' Sven the reindeer, set against a magical Frozen backdrop.
Children had the opportunity to have their faces painted 'Frozen-style', go on a reindeer-pulled sleigh ride, and make a delicious Olaf from marshmallows. All this, before the grand finale - a wonderful sing-along with all the Frozen characters on stage together. A truly magical experience, which had the delighted children singing along and watching in awe.
Not only are events at Blithbury Reindeer Lodge well organised, they are also incredibly well staffed, and facilities are excellent too, including the luxury loos! Staff are always on hand to help with each set of activities, and are attentive and communicative with adults and children alike.
From the moment you enter the lodge, you are greeted by the most friendly and attentive team you could wish for. The staff obviously love what they do, and this is reflected in their cheerful and welcoming disposition. Organisation and attention to detail is of paramount importance to the Blithbury staff. They are essentially a family-run business, but have not lost sight of what is important to families on a day out. Their personal touch is what makes their family days and events truly unique, and makes the whole experience rather special.
The Lodge has its own well-stocked gift shop, with a variety of reindeer-themed gifts, from cuddly toys to household goods. A clean and well-organised cafe is available, offering a welcome selection of sandwiches, light bites, drinks and cakes in a beautifully converted barn.
Blithbury at Christmas
The Lodge opens to the public for a variety of special events throughout the year. These include educational school visits, group tours, reindeer handling opportunities and family fun days. However, perhaps the most popular and most magical time to visit Blithbury Reindeer Lodge is at Christmas. Families are transported to a Christmas Wonderland, amidst Christmas tree-lined paths and sparkling fairy lights. Here, young and old can delight in the spirit of Christmas, while petting Santa's reindeer to their heart's content.
There will also be an 'Elf School' for the little ones, where they can learn all about Santa's reindeer, decorate a delicious gingerbread reindeer, and even get to meet him in his magical Christmas grotto.
For the grown-ups, the Lodge offers unique 'Reindeer by Night' experiences, allowing them to get close to the herd and listen to knowledgeable talks from their handlers, before enjoying a festive supper with mince pies and Mulled Wine.
All in all, Blithbury Reindeer Lodge offers a unique experience for all ages, where special memories are created for the whole family to treasure forever.
