Action Stations Museums
Action Stations at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard takes you to the heart of today's modern Royal Navy. From the action movie Command Approved (PG) shown in our state of the art 275 seat cinema to the true to life helicopter, weapons and operations room simulators you'll soon find out if you've got what it takes to join the Senior Service.
InterAction
InterAction our new £1 million gallery at Action Stations has over 27 large scale interactive exhibits of physical and multi-media challenges giving visitors of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get to grips with gizmos and gadgets.
InterAction boasts some serious science and technology exhibits, which combine entertainment, fun and learning for children and adults.
New Action Tower - Visitors now have the chance to reach new heights by attempting to scale the tallest indoor climbing tower in the UK fitted with an automatic safety belay system.
Soaring to a height of 8.4 metres (over 27 feet), the climbing tower, which cost £35,000 completes the Action Stations experience, complementing the existing range of over 40 interactive exhibits, simulators and specially commissioned action-packed movie.
The Tower has four climbing runs with differing degrees of difficulty, each with its own built-in LCD timer system that allows visitors to assess their own speed and agility as well as compete against friends and family. It also enables visitors of all ages to test their nerve and head for heights in a safe environment. All climbers are fitted with approved harnesses and are attached to an automatic belay system, which slowly lowers the climbers to the ground once they have completed their climb or come away from the tower surface. For those who simply want to watch the action, the tower is positioned up into the first floor void providing the perfect view from the ground and at first floor level.
The climbing tower was manufactured in Houston, Texas and comes with full safety procedures with wire and harnesses for a controlled decent. The minimum age to use the climbing tower is 6 years old or above or those who are 1.1 metres tall and weigh at least 3 stone (19kg). The Tower is suitable for adults up to a weight of 17 stone (108kg).
Use of the Tower is included in the price of a ticket to Action Stations.
