The Dinosaur Museum Museums
The only museum on mainland Britain solely devoted to dinosaurs, the award-winning Dinosaur Museum is a treat, especially for children. The museum combines life-sized reconstructions of dinosaurs with fossils and skeletons to create an exciting hands-on experience. Multimedia displays tell the story of the giant prehistoric animals and their enthralling world many millions of years ago.
The Dinosaur Museum has twice been voted one of Britain's Top Ten Hands On Museums and is a former winner of the Dorset Family Attraction of the Year. It is frequently featured on national television including Blue Peter, The Tweenies, and Tickabilla.
'Fleshed-out' dinosaur reconstructions - including Tyrannosaurus rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops - beg to be touched by little hands and that's encouraged. New reconstructions include the 'sickle claw' Deinonychus and a new interpretation troodon with feathers. Displays on the World Heritage coastline make The Dinosaur Museum part of any Jurassic Coast experience.
The Museum's individual and exciting approach has made it extremely popular with visitors from all over the country and abroad. A programme of change means there should always be something new to see at this museum for all the family. The Dinosaur Museum is truly Dorset's monster attraction. New for this year 'Jurassic Dinosaurs' a special exhibition.
