Great Yarmouth's Row 111 and The Old Merchant's House are fine examples of traditional Row Houses which were developed in the 17th century and are unique to the town. Features of both houses are the Dutch-style exteriors with patterned brick and flint walling, and square clay tiles on the floors and within passageways. Inside the houses, you can see a range of historical fittings, including wall anchors, door knockers, hinges and brackets.
To reflect the changing history of the rows, both houses include models of some of the tenants who inhabited them in the 1870s and 1930s.
Free guided tour of Greyfriars' Cloisters every Friday at 10. 30am, please call for details. Complementary displays can be visited at the Elizabethan House, 100 yards along South Quay Tel 01493 745526. .
