Availability: Saturdays and Sundays from May to October. Weather: Surfing will go ahead in most conditions, with weather on the day determining the best surfing location. Duration: The morning lesson lasts for around two hours from around 9.30am. There is a break for lunch, and the whole afternoon is spent putting your new skills to use. Numbers On Day: Numbers on the day will vary but you will be split into groups with a maximum of 10 people per instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch you (and laugh!) from the beach. Dress Code: Bring a swimming costume, towel, waterproof sunblock, sunglasses and warm clothing. All surfing equipment will be supplied. Guidelines: You will receive directions when you have made your booking. Restrictions: Minimum age is 8 in Cornwall and 12 in Yorkshire. You need to be able to swim a minimum of 25 metres (Cornwall) or 50 metres (Yorkshire) and have a good level of fitness. You'll also have to sign a fitness declaration before being permitted to take part. Other Info: You'll receive a full information pack including a health declaration form and accommodation guide once you've made your booking.

Begin the morning session by learning safety and fundamental boarding techniques such as paddling, steering, board trim, catching a wave and standing up, as well as right of way and wave selection. After a break for lunch, spend the entire afternoon putting these newfound skills into practice and carve some gnarly waves with an instructor who remains on hand to offer guidance at all times. All instructors are fully qualified lifeguards and hold first aid qualifications so you'll be in safe hands from start to finish.
