Availability: Weekend dates from April to mid October. Book at least four weeks in advance (please be aware that bookings are taken up to a maximum of three months ahead). Weather: This is a weather dependent activity. It's essential that you call the venue for a weather check between 5pm and 7pm the evening before you go. Duration: This experience lasts for two hours including a safety briefing, one and a half hours on the water with 15 minutes driving time, and a debrief. Please arrive up to half an hour early to get ready, as the boat can't wait for latecomers. Numbers On Day: There will be up to four people on board. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to wave you off from the shore. Tell them to bring a camera and a pair of binoculars. Dress Code: Dress warmly and bring waterproofs and a change of clothes. Bear in mind that there is a high wind-chill factor aboard the boat. Wear non-slip shoes (e.g. trainers or deck shoes). An old pair of sunglasses/ski goggles will be useful if it is windy. Guidelines: From M27, exit J3 onto M271 following signs to 'Waterfront'. With Ocean Village on your right, drive straight on, under bridge until you reach T junction with 'The Chapel Arms' ahead. Turn right, then right again at roundabout by St. Mary's Stadium (into Belvidere Road). Pick up signposts for Shamrock Quay and turn right into William Street. You'll start with a safety briefing and an introduction to the boat, then head out onto the water with an expert driver, who'll put the boat through her paces while you hang on tight. You'll get tuition in how to handle the boat, and then about 15 minutes hands-on driving (at the skipper's discretion). The boat operates within Southampton Water and, weather permitting, out onto the Solent.
