Kirby Muxloe Castle is currently closed while conservation work is ongoing, due to reopen 2006. Although the site is closed, you can enjoy walks around the perimeter of the moat. Construction of this picturesque, moated brick castle was begun in 1480 by William, Lord Hastings. He was later beheaded and the castle was left unfinished.

Decorative carving and ornate gardens fit for a queen Kirby Hall is one of the great Elizabethan houses, built in the hope of receiving the Queen on her annual 'progresses' around the country. .
